Peta and Paul North purchased their first camera shop on 1st July 1979. This was named “City Arcade Photographics” after the arcade in which it was established. The shop was originally opened and owned by Perth Photographics. In April of 1984, Eastmere Nominees was formed with Peta and Paul North as the sole directors and over the next few years had expanded to a total of four camera shops and a staff of more than thirty full time personnel and a turnover exceeding eight million dollars per annum. The camera shops traded as Camera & Video, London Court Photographics, Camera Solutions and Camera City. The company regretfully decided to not continue with the last shop after ten years of successful trading due to a shift in the demographics of the area and difficulty in staffing levels so the decision was made to not renew the lease.
As of January 2007 London Court Photographics was transformed into the Photo Art Gallery. During the early days both Peta and Paul were involved in the production of professional wedding photography and video. They of course used film (black and white and colour) and had the latest in Canon video equipment that was produced at that time, while most other videographers where still using standard 8 movie film. They produced weddings for a period of ten years.
Over the years Eastmere Nominees have strived to acquire the very latest equipment and keep up with popular trends. They incorporated computers into their shops to monitor sales and progress when a lot of other competitors were still using cash registers. They were the first to install the Fuji Pictrix printer and computer which would produce instant digital enlargements on to a digital paper and also produce digital corrections for photo restoration. They were also the first to install the Noritsu (By Kodak) full automatic developing and printing machines. Again as technology advanced they upgraded to the 1501 version which was faster and could process APS film when it first came out, and then a digital head allowed the shop to print the first images from a digital camera. We now have a Noritsu 2901, which is also the latest in technology.

Camera Solutions was also the first shop in Perth to install photo tellers. The shop now has eight of these in store with the last two being purchased in late 2006 and are able to produce photos from mobile phones and to converse with customers in their own language. The lab can print up to 1500 photos an hour.
Eatsmere's latest purchase is the Ilford wide format printers, these machines produce vibrant colour images on Matt or Gloss paper and canvas. The image can be up to one meter wide and approx 20 meters long depending on the length of the paper. Eastmere has always strived to have the latest equipment in order to stay ahead of their competition and maintain the very best in quality.
In 2002 /2003 Camera Solutions was the first shop in Western Australia to achieve the prestigious dealer of the year award. This is awarded to the dealer on a vote system by all suppliers in the photo industry based on the conduct of the business, service and accounting practices. Over the years that Paul and Peta have been involved in the photographic industry they have built a large portfolio of photographs in film and digital media. They also have a great working relationship with other photographers which gives the company a large and varied type of photography of which many samples can be viewed on the web site.
Photo Art Gallery only allow the very best of images onto the web site in order to maintain its integrity and from this we can produce all prints in store, using the very best Ilford quality inks and canvases. The directors of the company are also qualified pilots and operate the companies light aircraft so that the photographers are able to get to locations quickly and makes aerial photography possible.
Photo Art Gallery is the conclusion of many years of photographic experience coming together as an art form. Simply using the Camera instead of paints and then with latest technology the gallery can produce the photos on to canvas with stunning results that will be a feature of the home for many years to come.
